The Need for Organ and Tissue Donation is Urgent

    • One organ donor can save up to eight lives and one tissue donor can improve the lives of up to 50 people.
    • California ranks first among all states in the number of candidates on the national organ transplant waiting list.
    • As of April 2014, out of the 120,000 individuals on the national waiting list, 21,000 (or 18%) are California residents.
    • Approximately 18 people die each day awaiting life-saving organ transplants and a new name is added to the waiting list every 10 minutes.
